Primary cell assays

Primary cell assays

Primary cells, non-immortalized cells used with limited passage number ex vivo, are thought to be more representative of the native physiology that transformed cell lines. However, these cells and be finicky and complex to handle. Our team of trained and experenced cell biology experts offer in vitro assay services using a variety of primary cells. These cells, which are derived from primary tissues such as cord blood, bone marrow and peripheral blood and various tissue sources (e.g. fibroblasts, endothelial cells, adipocytes, etc. ) can be used for a variety of applications. The range of assays using primary human, or other mammal (e.g. murine) cells at Aragen is diverse and includes but is not limited to, cell proliferation, cytotoxicity, migration, adhesion, ROS, receptor regulation, apoptosis hematopoietic colony-forming cell assays (CFC assay).

Commonly used primary human cells include but are not limited to:
HUVEC, HMVEC (endothelial cells), VSMC (vascular smooth muscle), RPTEC (renal cells) and a variety of primary immune cells isolated from whole blood or buffy coats. In addition, many assays are performed in whole blood to better simulate activity in patients.
